I took part in one of the E17 Designers events, for the first time last Friday. I took my cards, the new eco cards as well, photographic prints, badges and mirrors and my new sticker range. I enjoy looking for new ways to use my images and the stickers are made up of dozens of my photos.
The Fair was very good, excellent organization, live music and wine all adding to a great atmosphere. My collaborative pieces called In Our Hands as part of the exhibition DecarbonART are up at City Hall.
I have been working with some young people on some collaborative pieces for the exhibition for some months. The theme was around climate change, the environment and the planet. We worked on 3 canvas pieces using collage and mixed media, including glitter and gems. It was a piece celebrating Padmayoginihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15291459057310941368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24355796.post-52619016828182332292008-04-30T14:05:00.009+01:002008-05-01T20:19:39.547+01:00Seekers Trust and Cecil CollinsLast week found me at the Seekers Trust again for a few days. I was lucky the weather was a good mix of sunshine and some showers, some mist and one thunder storm. I had time to meditate, reflect, plan, draw and paint and take photographs.
The birds were singing really loudly all day, the tiniest of birds making the most noise. I went out to Stratford on Sunday to be part of the Olympic torch event. I went with a "necklace" of Tibetan flags, some hand made badges and leaflets and a larger Tibetan flag. I decided to just walk through the centre and outside, talking to anyone who was interested in what I was doing.
I took my camera to record the scenes and entertainment. On a very wet and windy morning I went out to find the Parasol Unit Foundation for contemporary art. They are showing a selection of Darren Almonds work till 30th March, and I wanted to see his film In The Between. It is a 3 screen piece filmed in China and Tibet. On Tuesday I was delighted to see a documentary film about Cecil Collins, it was shown as part of the Temenos programme. I have appreciated Cecil Collins work for a long time, his visionary sensibility, use of symbol and colour. I did not know that much about him however. This year is his centenary, so there are a number of events lined up, which is great.

I've been continuing with my records of journeys by public transport, and sunsets in the urban environment. Docklands still proves to have some fascinating contrasts of old industrial objects and new buildings. Reflections within reflections interest me, last week the reflections in water near Surrey Quays and reflections in the office building and in the Dockland Light Railway stations.

My re-cycled pictures and covered boxes went into the Oxfam shop windows last week. It was rather difficult getting the work into the widows but it was good to see then finally installed. I called the exhibition Remember The Forest, connecting the word forest in Waltham forest's name, the recycling aspect of the work and the fact the paper originally came from the trees. These last few weeks have seen me busy working on some pictures for the Oxfam windows in Walthamstow. I had originally intended to show some local photographs, but then began working on other areas as well, triggered by the place ( a charity shop ) and recycling christmas paper.

I went to the British Museum yesterday with Ruth, to see the First Emperor exhibition. I had been surprised at how booked up the exhibition had been, we had to wait a couple of months to get these tickets. It seems blockbuster exhibitions are the places to be seen to go to.
There are because of this, too many people to make looking at most of the objects in the cases easy or enjoyable. Watching the birds on the peanuts and fat balls is endlessly delightful. There are a surprisingly large variety of birds in this, my city garden. Robins and wrens, blue tits and great tits, blackbirds and sparrows, starlings and woodpeckers, magpies and jays, wood pigeons and the ordinary London pigeons, being the main ones.
Along with trees, birds are perhaps one of my other main art themes, Padmayoginihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15291459057310941368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24355796.post-67538097526379123382007-12-24T11:03:00.000Z2007-12-24T11:33:03.641ZChristmas Greetings
It's that festive time of year, buying and decorating the tree, seeing friends and relatives and shopping.
I have enjoyed being in town a few times this year, I like to see what decorations are around. I was in Covent Garden where they had decorated the market hall well and had some giant baubles outside. I haven't managed to get to the South Bank yet, where apparantly they have decorated a Padmayoginihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15291459057310941368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24355796.post-23509895781027826872007-12-11T17:23:00.000Z2007-12-17T20:14:13.945ZFireworks and Chisato Tamabayashi
After a few arts and crafts events, teaching and getting the flu, I haven't had chance to post here for a while. It was good though getting out and seeing if my glittery photo cards would sell for the festive season. It seems there are fellow enthusiasts for stars and glitter fortunately.
I did get chance to go to a firework display this year as well, I shot quite a few videos and took photos, Padmayoginihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15291459057310941368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24355796.post-61748806811453057692007-10-27T17:00:00.000+01:002007-10-28T13:36:51.472ZPhoto Open and Walthamstow at sunset.
The probable last exhibition for me this year is just coming to a close at the Pavillion in Mile End Park. As part of Photo Month, there has been an exhibition of work from over 60 photographers, in the park.

I have been sitting in my exhibition space this week, in the Changing room Gallery, which is in the park behind the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow. Thanks to the help of my friends Stavarha and Julie, the exhibition looks great. It provided quite a challenge, the range and diversity of work. It's been a full on few weeks preparing for the Open Studios and my exhibition at the Changing Room Gallery. In the studio it meant moving a lot of stuff with help from friends, to make a bit of a clear space for people to get in!
Then more friends to help hang some work. I find it quite a challenge deciding which work to show, particularly as I have been working in a variety of styles and Padmayoginihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15291459057310941368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24355796.post-73126497238663926732007-09-01T18:12:00.001+01:002007-09-02T18:57:23.077+01:00In the garden for exhibition work
Finally some sunshine, or at least not rain, so I could take photographs in my garden for my exhibition, Gardens of Delight. Though some of the rain drops on the Begonia's and leaves do look lovely as well.
I have also been out taking photos of other peoples gardens for the exhibition as well.
