Afternoon Tea Works on Paper, online exhibition

I had one of my pieces in Chiara Williams's exhibition, Afternoon Tea   Works on Paper,in her flat overlooking the sea in Margate. The exhibition is part of the Margate Festival which runs till the 6th of August.

Chiara served lovely cakes and tea while folks looked around the exhibition on her walls.

Winter Cheer exhibition at Bernie's Chocolate Bar

I have three paintings in the Winter exhibition at Bernie's Chocolate Bar in Margate.

Called Winter Cheer, there are seven artists showing work. Alan Longley, Megan Metcalf, Ruth Le Ber,  Marion Armstrong, Dosh Archer and  Triston Wallace.

As part of out theme on Winter Cheer, we held a Its a Wrap event last Saturday,where we took lots of wrapping materials for people to bring any gifts that they wanted to wrap.

It was a free event with any donations to Thanet Families in Need.

We had fun and some have some donations for the charity too.

Dosh was reusing crisp packets as wrapping.

Working with the Theme of Circles.

Inspired by the current exhibition Seeing Round Corners at Turner Contemporary , I have been exploring circles in my work. I have also been working in Blank Canvas with circles and ephemeral works like bubbles.

It is interesting to see how universal an image, form and symbol the circle is.

Symbolic forms.

Most of my circles have been drawings and paintings of full moons, or planets. I am drawn to the moon and its symbolism and power.

At Blank Canvas we've been using liquids to make bubbles, ink, paint and glitter and blowing mounds of bubbles, watching them move, pop and dissolve. Making prints from the bubbles and photographing them.

I like the way that the structure of the bubbles starts to look like wire sculptures and the reflections can look like crystals suspended on a framework.

Made in Margate

I am pleased to be part of a new group, Made in Margate, that includes all sorts of creative people,   We have set up the group to share opportunities, work together on events and exhibitions and get to know other local creative people. We hope to have an events mailing list and welcome new members to join us.

Our first exhibition is part of the Big Kent Weekend and opens on Friday 11th March 6-8pm and continues on Saturday 12th and Sunday13th 12-6pm.

The exhibition will be in the Viking Gallery, Cliftonville Ave. Margate and we will be on hand to talk to people about Made in Margate and our work.

There will be a free prize draw to win pieces of art and following the popularity of adult colouring books we also have a colour and draw activity for everyone to take part in.

The Magic of Colour- Kent Seas and Sky exhibition open

 

 

My exhibition The Magic of Colour - Kent seas and Sky is open at Bernie's Chocolate Bar in Margate. 2-14 High Street Margate.  Bernie's site here  Facebook page. It's been good to see friends and enjoy Bernie's hot drinks while seeing the exhibition.

Ruth was fortunately able to hang the show with me, and I am pleased with the show, which has the brightly coloured seascapes along one of the main walls in the Chocolate Bar.

The title and paintings, The Magic of Colour, were about showing something vibrant and colourful for a grey and cold January exhibition. and also my own love of colour.  The exhibition is on till the 28th of January.

The exhibition is also an affordable one, with framed and unframed prints and cards for sale.
I am pleased that the local paper have printed something about the exhibition too.

The exhibition, The Magic of Colour, Kent Seas and Skies will be open from Saturday 2nd January from 2pm till January 28th, 2016.

As the title suggests I have been influenced by the amazing colours we get in the skies and seas here in Thanet, Kent.  A number of paintings will be on box canvases and I'll also include some framed prints of my work.

The show will be an affordable exhibition,  with cards and unframed prints too.  Let me know if you are coming to the exhibition and I'll try to meet you there. Great hot chocolates for a winter's day and the sea outside.
